Lost wallet puts escaped prisoner back behind bars
An escaped Italian prisoner was back behind bars Tuesday after he lost his
wallet and police telephoned him to come and collect it. Luigi De Chirico,
36, slipped away from a company where he was allowed to work during a
four-month prison sentence in the central town of Terni, but he lost his
wallet containing identity papers and his cellphone number. A police officer
called De Chirico on his cellphone and arrested him when he arrived -- on
a stolen moped -- to pick up the wallet. De Chirico now faces fresh
charges of evading jail and theft.
