Fred,
"The issue is that international anger at the US is mounting under Dubya. He is destabilizing treaties and beginning another cold war. That's why we were not voted, in a secret ballot, on this commission. Dubya is a chess player who doesn't seem to understand that the other person has a strategy also."

He has been President for 100 days and is bound to make mistakes. Powell at State and others in the Bush admin have differences apparently. They will get their act together and in international politics the center is where it usually settles. I am sure that you said the same things about Reagan vis a vis the Russians and look how that turned out on an International level(end communism etc). Give George some time.
Also, much of what is happening now is Clintons fault. We had no foreign policy except the personal magnetism of Bill Clinton. We had no energy policy until his executive orders at the end of his regime. And the slowdown happened on his watch. Lets look at where we are on Jan 1, 2001. I suspect you will give W a good rating. Mike
