Ericsson supports new Swedish technology Ericsson has decided to support the DTM technology and has signed a strategic co-operative agreement with Swedish company Dynarc which develops this technology. By using DTM, IP can be used for data, video and traditional telephony. Telecom operators that sell fixed telephony are potential customers. "There's a lot that speak in favour of DTM. The first Ericsson products based on DTM are underway," says George Wayne, vice president of Ericsson Datacom. It's actually quite ironic that Ericsson supports DTM. This technology was originally developed by researchers at the Royal Institute of Technology with financial support from Ericsson and Telia. However, Ericsson decided to invest in ATM instead, while the researchers continued on their own. Dynarc's president Olov Schagerlund expects that the deal with Ericsson will yield royalties by the end of the year. The company aims at a Nasdaq listing within two years. Tomas Augustsson
