Pasminco to Close U.S. Zinc Mines After Failing to Find Buyer
2002-12-03 17:00 (New York)

Melbourne, Dec. 4 (Bloomberg) -- Pasminco Ltd., a zinc miner
which appointed administrators last year, said it will close its
Clinch Valley and Gordonsville mines in the U.S. after it failed
to find a buyer.
``While Gordonsville is scheduled to close in six months, the
exact closure date for Clinch Valley will depend on market
conditions, raw material supply, mine performance, and capital
expenditure requirements,'' Pasminco Chief Executive Greig Gailey
said in a statement to the Australian Stock Exchange.
Pasminco will continue to operate the Clarksville refinery in
Tennessee, it said.
