first itron (itri) they read meters from a van through a radio signal as someone drives through neighborhoods and pick up the radio signal and reads the meter. common sense-no technology advantage- no big deal. cellnet(cnds) very good technology -reads meters through wireless communication lines -like somewhat cell phones- dssi- redas meters through telephone lines- they have a chip-made from tower- that hooks up to the meter and allows the utility to read meters from one central headquarters-also monitor electricity. i bought dssi more because of a their presence inoverseas markets not the u.s. one third of all electricity is stolen in third world countries and electricity needs to be monitor because of shortages. dssi is already strong overseas in third world countries-mexico-argentina-latin america- their product costs half of what cellnet or any other products and cell net since its wireless has no control overseas because most every country does not have the wireless system to set up the system except maybe japan-more developed countries. their product sells for around 80 dollers pre home on intial setup with margins i believe 36-50%/ i see dssi getting orders this year of around 100,00-300,000 units for intial units -value around 8million revenue plus. 1999 would be the big kicker if things work out -i see overseas orders 1miill-5 mill-. these orders are non u.s -i'm not even calculating that because you never no with big utilities. dssi start or built the product mainly for third world countries and basicly got lucky as us. went on derugalation. i think we see a small ORDER of around 100,000units and that will end anyones doubt in the product. i'll keep you informed.
