The Constitution does not in words say who shall be natural-born citizens. Resort must be had elsewhere to ascertain that. At common law, with the nomenclature of which the framers of the Constitution were familiar, it was never doubted that all children born in a country of parents who were its citizens became themselves, upon their birth, citizens also. These were natives or natural-born citizens, as distinguished from aliens or foreigners.

Interesting. However the above paragraph doesn't say that Obama is not a natural born citizen. It says children of two US citizen parents are (of course) natural born citizens. And it says aliens and foreigners are (of course) not natural born citizens. It makes no mention of someone in Obama's situation.

In fact the common law thing probably supports Obama's eligibility. I'll bet more than a few citizen settlers took non citizen Indian squaw brides, had kids, and the kids were granted citizenship at birth.
