Try Netscape network server support if you want a shock. Highly progressive, but still a perceived deal that has Microsfot playing catchup. Be a couple of years until miscosoft catches and passes where netscape is now in larger systems for the web. The DOJ should really get after Microsoft. They are getting effective monoploies, but when they get them they do not up the price. You might think they could ask $300 for Win95, as they have us all by the b*lls. But you know Win3.1 has had a remarkably long life and the biggies are not upgrading. Will MS stop sales of Win 3.1 and 3.11?? Have they yet as a forcing move to Win95? DOJ feed there.
Microsoft gets the monopoly, covers the earth, but does not increase the price after they are alone. This is non-monopolistic behaviour, and so they are not a monopoly? Is that why they have been left alone?, or is it the no increase in price that did it?
AAPL attaemts to act monopolistically, and ask big bucks, but the people found another way and walked to Wintel. Do you think Gates knows that Apple lurks, and a big price increase and a move to open market concept would bring a vibrant new Apple to the fore?. He may have this strategic thought in his minds eye, so he throws some support, but really expects final death and dissolution of Apple so he would have it all.
All the more reason for an open Apple....blah blah blah etc etc and so on and so forth ad infinitum.
