08:32 ET Economic Data : Durable good orders plunge 8.5% in Sep, well below the -1.0% consensus and indicative of the Sep 11 economic disruptions. Jobless claims rose 8K to 504K which was only slightly higher than the 500K consensus. The Employment Cost Index rose 1.0% vs the 0.9% consensus, but will not be a focus. The durable orders plunge is the most notable report, though the market might be forgiving of weak September numbers.
