Re silicon: this is a pretty specific (German-oriented) question. Still: Wacker-Chemie is one of the biggest, if not the biggest Si-crystal/wafer supplier worldwide. Sits downtown in Munich (among other places I guess). Still I have not yet found out how to jump on that train. They seem not to be publicly traded, there's no usual information/PR stream from them. Very very strange - well, there's privately owned companies around too, but not of that size. And I guess Wacker are in as much need of capital as anybody else out there in the market.
So, if there's some knowledge here among the users of their product (g) lemme know.
