According to the latest weather forcast the north is heading for a -30 to -40 cold snap this weekend and rumour has it the companies are busy working on the winter road so with the cold snap the ice will be thickening at a good rate. Once you have the road way in (snow flattened or removed) the cold can penetrate the ice much easier and build ice faster. (snow is a great insulator, Its amazing but if you clear a piece of ice of snow leave it for a few days then check ice thickness of cleared patch vs snow covered patch a few feet away and there will be several inches more ice under the cleared patch)>
I havent seen the latest mcleans or canadian geographic but since the reports etc were up here in nov-dec doing stories on the north and diamonds it will be interesting to see what they say.
Regards all, lets hope the new year is a good one for diamonds.
