The news blurbs probably failed to report the whole thing. Berry was stunned, almost hysterical, crying unselfconsciously. Part of what she said was elegant (and likely rehearsed) the other part was rambling and repetitious thanking of people who had supported her career. It was hard not to be moved. Many people in the audience had tears running down their cheeks.
