Continuing education has to be seen, as integral to a healthy life style, as exercise, and worked at every day.

When I was 60 I could out ride 90% of high schools students on my bike. Not because I was better physically, but I was in good shape.

Intellectual capability is the same thing, exactly. I do not believe in smart and dumb people, I believe in developed minds and undeveloped minds.

A huge mistake academia makes, IMO, is not understanding time lengths well for learning abstract reasoning and things like probability which is hard for humans to understand. We are hard wired for pattern recognition though.

My son in law who is a physics professor and I talked just recently about how when kids get bad information when young unlearning it is difficult. He says the professors talk about it all the time.

I think a child undergoes a period of imprinting of sorts we do not understand, so we need to be careful and attentive. Also a child's brain is pruned when young to adapt to its environment.

Animals deprived of stimulus when young remain dull for life.
