OT - Camping/outdoors life are the best ways to teach kids self reliance, independence, and that separation from electronics are okay in life. There's a certain amount of fear in a child that being away from home in the wilderness can lead to danger. Teaching them otherwise is so important. It builds the confidence level. Jed Smith wilderness this summer, after a week in the eastern sierras reeling in some rainbow. Taking my younger brother for his first trip.
