Puma Technology and Jump Networks Strike Licensing Agreement to Help Consumers Synchronize Innovative New Jump! Service

Intellisync(R) Deal Provides the Most Complete and Free Synchronization Available With Handheld Devices and PC Applications

January 18, 1999 11:00 AM SHOWCASE '99, SAN DIEGO, Jan. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Puma Technology, Inc. PUMA , the industry leader in Universal Synchronization Solutions' software for a world on the move, and Jump Networks, Inc., creator of the world's only free and completely connected calendar, email, and contact manager on the Web, today announced a licensing agreement that will deliver unprecedented free and total synchronization to consumers -- for FREE, via Jump! (www.jump.com).

Jump! is a full featured and web-based personal information manager (PIM), and will be the first to offer for free, to its users, the full set of synchronization features available through the Intellisync software from Puma Technology. Using the Intellisync Software Development Kit (SDK) and by licensing a run-time version of the Intellisync software, Jump! is building upon the open Intellisync platform to enable its customers to synchronize with each other, the Web, and with leading handheld devices and PC-based PIM applications, such as Palm Computing platform devices and Microsoft Outlook.

Jump!'s interface introduces new purpose, ease-of-use and functionality to the Web's killer-apps because it puts the user's calendar and their personal data at the center, surrounded by useful and integrated tools, including email, task lists, reminders, groups, shared calendars, and message boards. Because online content and ecommerce opportunities show up within the context of the user's schedule, they become more compelling than ever before. Most importantly, Jump!'s design gives users the tools they need to easily communicate and share that information without changing applications, services or main views. And now, by downloading the free Intellisync for Jump! software, Jump! users can synchronize their online tools with their offline tools.

"By utilizing Intellisync from Puma, we will extend our goal of total integration and complete connection of all personal management tools to the growing markets of handheld devices and personal information managers," said Dane Glasgow, President of Jump Networks, Inc.

"It is great to see an exciting new company like Jump Networks make full use of our Intellisync technology. Its reflects the increasing industry momentum behind the extensible Intellisync synchronization software platform and SDK that device vendors, application providers, and web-based services alike are building upon to deliver advanced synchronization solutions to their customers. Jump! is offering an impressive web-based personal and public organizational solution that will help people stay organized, connected and now - completely in sync!" said President and CEO, Brad Rowe.

"Everyday more and more people are turning to the Web to stay in touch, get information and engage in ecommerce. All this activity and information, necessitates the need for organization. That's where we jump in!," said Bill Trenchard, CEO of Jump Networks. "We are extremely excited about partnering with Puma Technology. They offer the best synchronization technology available, and we are happy to make the most complete offering of their software available to our users for free."

Intellisync for Jump! will be offered as a free download to users from the Jump! web site at www.jump.com. The initial beta version will support Microsoft Outlook 97/98, Symantec ACT! 4.0, Lotus Organizer 97, and Palm Computing platform products, such as the Palm III and PalmPilot connected organizers. Support for Microsoft Schedule+, Lotus Organizer 4.1, Sidekick, Lotus Notes, and Windows CE-based devices will follow in subsequent releases.
