Finally, somebody from the opposite camp dare to ask the 'C' word ('COMPILE') ... I guess you won't take my word for it ... that's just fine.
For the benefit of the non-technies out there, here are some things to ask Zitel/Matridigm if you ever get the chance :
1. Will Matridigm convert JCL (Job Control Language), utility control statements (like sort controls for date fields), non-COBOL source, COBOL source generated by a 4GL language, COBOL2 source, COBOL with DB2, COBOL with IMS, COBOL with CICS ... list goes on and on
2. Will Matridigm after converting the code compile & link the source ... of course, if they do this, aside from the source being input, the compile versions, link cards, link libraries should be input as well ...
3. If answer to no 2 above is YES ... will Matridigm run the generated load module ,,, which implies that JCL, input files, input databases, online data should be input as well ...
I'VE ASKED THESE QUESTIONS AND I'VE GOT A FAIRLY GOOD IDEA OF WHAT THE MATRIDIGM PRODUCT CAN AND CANNOT DO ...
Now, about the beta sites, the proof of the pudding lies in the eating ... and I should add, it also lies on the 'COSTING' ... after all is said and done, what will Nevada be willing to pay for the conversion ... some say its $.30 per line ... some say it's $.03 ... |
