Barry: Like I said somewhere else before, I call this phenomenon the 'belated January-effect' as we never had one. Also note fund managers were all in a holding pattern and now that they know a bit more about the Asian thing, looks like they are coming back in.

I also read somewhere that one of the Fed governors (?) out in California saying in a meeting of some sorts that he thinks the technology sector looks like it is going weather the Asian turmoil. He also said Q4 results was an indication of this since the trouble in Asia actually began with Thai Bhatt devaluation some time in August. He further added that pc sales in the U.S was robust and europe would be even stronger in 98 than 97. Overall good vibes from various quarters.

As for upgrades, you know they always start upgrading a stock once a stock almost reaches its peak leaving not much room for the 'little' guys. I expect them to upgrade Intel when the stock reaches $90.00.
