Mike--Hadn't thought of the plane crash as a possible market
depressant, and as you say, it should be seen as a tragedy. But I'm a
little more sanguine about the market in general than you are, though
God knows I've been bloodied badly over the last couple of weeks. It
could be--hope it is anyway--the end of the REALLY awful days, though
we're unlikely to see a return to the bright prospects of April-May
anytime soon. Much depends on what Greenspan has to say to Congress
today, and of course on earnings reports. One major encouraging sign,
I thought: Apple came in yesterday WAY above estimates. That is,
they still lost 26 cents a share, but the Street was expecting a loss
of more than a buck, so relatively speaking they did well. So let's
keep our fingers crossed. Just checked the XICO web site and so far
they haven't posted earnings. But I don't doubt Blaine or someone
here will let us know as soon as they're out. Will check out GOOFS
tonight: I could indeed use some laughs. Janice |
