Bob, I was pleased to hear BB's responses on the Y2K problem and thought he presented a reasonable perspective. At this point, no one knows the extent of the problem - everything is opinion. While industry needs to get there act together as best they can, individuals still have a year before making their personal assessment. Being an alarmist at this point could create a self-fulfilling prophecy. The Y2K problem will affect the economy - but maybe in a positive way. It is a very good excuse to invest in their business to take advantage of the current technological revolution allowing them to be more efficient and productive in the future. I found the recent shutdown of ATT's frame relay system to shed some light on what might happen on 1/1/2000. While the causes are different, an important part of our commerce infrastructure stopped working for a day. This is the kind of problem we are likely to see on 1/1/2000. It inconvenienced people trying to use their credit cards but seems to have had little lasting impact. -- Alan
