White House/Plan -2: Plan To Cut Receipts By $31B FY '03

07 Jan 18:30

WASHINGTON (Dow Jones)--The Bush administration's $674 billion stimulus
package will boost gross domestic product growth by 0.4 percentage point in
2003 and by 1.1 percentage points in 2004, the White House said Tuesday.

"Faster GDP growth means job creation - 190,000 new jobs in 2003 and 900,000
in 2004. With this additional employment growth, the economy is expected to
generate 2-3 million jobs each year over the next three years," according to
the White House Council of Economic Advisers.

The plan also is projected to cut federal receipts by $31 billion in fiscal
year 2003 and $88 billion in fiscal year 2004. Between fiscal years 2003 and
2007, the plan is projected to lower federal receipts by $166 billion, the CEA
said.
