Prophet: <<With their OEM customers at risk, "the [semiconductor] industry has no choice but to bring litigation against Rambus," said Bob Merritt, an analyst at Semico Research Corp., Redwood City, Calif.>>
For once I agree w/ Semico. The ITC order on Sega left them no choice:
dockets.usitc.gov
OT, I think this explains yesterday's "unexplained" weakness in the stock. naahhh, couldn't be. LOL.
Also, since Wed PM, the CMP / DDR luv fest icon is back up at the CMP rag sites. Interesting to view / read. Mission impossible music and all. Robertson & Rhoden ('R2') at their best. Encourage all to take several hours and review. Know thine enemy. In this case, know those who are trying to take money out of your pocket. One excerpt from the (transcript) intro:
<<Ladies and Gentlemen, please join me in extending a very warm welcome to the Vice President & Managing Director of CMP's EDTN Network, Mr. Richard Wallace.
Richard Wallace: Let me add my own welcome to industry members who joined us this morning for the industry wide technology roll out of DDR SDRAM. It's been noted the historic event that brings us together today did not happen by accident, indeed it did not. We are again defining and developing a new high industry standard technology in early 1997. The effort was spearheaded by the JEDEC Solid State Technology Association, but from then until today it's been an industry-wide effort and involving a high level of cooperation between a cross-section of industry players. JEDEC, which operates as a nonprofit standards development organization, helped coordinate the effort....but to fully appreciate the historic nature of today's technology roll out, it's worth noting all standards have followed the path of DDR....Last year DRAM semiconductor manufacturers led by Mr. Desi Rhoden formed a nonprofit consortium, Advanced Memory International, to coordinate development of the infrastructure needed to support this new technology. Today, three years after DDR was first launched, DDR SDRAM devices are in volume production. Even in an industry that runs on Internet time and leaps forward at the pace of Moore's Law, this is an impressive achievement for so sophisticated a technology. The effort has paid off and achieved mission accomplished status and JEDEC and AMII have rapid acceptance.>>
We certainly can speculate from whence bilow and scum originate, possibly also Dan2. R2D2. <g>
Per the seminar, 1997 is the origin of DDR!! LOL. Lets see...hmmm...does 1997 preceed 1990?
Not for the faint of heart, ladies and gents.
All jmho.
