I'm not sure I would blame Childes for being geography-challenged, but Wall Street should know better. Then again that creates opportunities for us investors. If you follow the Compaq thread, this company has a reputation for knowing the channel inventory situation very well. They would not have posted blow out 3Q results and said they were very comfortable with 4Q estimates, if they didn't have a good read on what's happening. I don't understand the discrepancy, but as I remember, some folks talked down the PC market in the 4Q last year and it did pretty well. HL
