Franz, my guess about rhapsody on intel (based on NeXTStep on intel):

1) when it first comes out it will probably only run on
`Rhapsody certified' intel boxes:- ones where theyve written
and checked all the drivers for EACH and EVERY piece of hardware.
Until hardware manus write the drivers, Aapl will have to do it
for them card by card. Unlike Mac, imagine how many millions
of different cards are out there.

2) even when it runs, it will be SLOW on intel. There was a
post a while back about how wonderful Nextstep is, all true except
the line about speed. Unix is slow and cumbersome, Next GUI more so.
Thats exactly where RISC based PPC should be a lot faster if well
ported. So, while useble on a P233 intel machine for thos who
cant afford better, graphics pros and whomever can afford will
still want Rhapsody on mac hardware for new purchases. Indeed, once
the MS strangehold is broken and people dont feel they have to buy
intel boxes, the reasons to buy intel from dell or a chop shop
are few over buying a mac box from aapl or a clone maker. But again
it will take time for such a perception to come about as people
have to feel that aapl is as good a choice to commit too long term.
Until then people will prefer the Rhapsody on intel because they
can always dual boot and switich to the free intalled win95 if
Rhapsody flops.
