Well, speaking of jobs....IMO, Space IS the final frontier....At least when we had a space industry, we had educated people who worked on the projects, and their incomes provided salaries for those who supported the space industry.
Now what do we have beside millions of people out of jobs.?
I keep hearing from the President...."the jobs that those mean ole' rich companies sent overseas".....I say which jobs? Oh, he must mean all those call center jobs.....
The Chinese have pulled out tens of millions of people and made HUGE buildings where the workers work around the clock in two shifts....all of them working on tiny little computer chips of various sorts.....None of them make much money, but to them, it's lots of money and they no longer are farming. They have no unions nor union expenses. I have a family member who goes to China at least every two or three months, and sees these people and their factories....
Most American jobs that have gone are obsolete. Robots and automatic equipment have taken over much of the manufacturing in this country. (Check out the TV program "How It's Made" for multiple examples of this)
Our colleges and universities are supremely expensive, unless one is a minority, or an illegal immigrant's son or daughter, OR unless the parents are wealthy enough to have supported the college/university with a very healthy endowment. We don't need any more lawyers, have millions already. Do need more doctors and bio tech people, but those folks need science and math courses....and lots of them. Have plenty of civil engineers....the taxpayers ultimately pay for most of them through all the road and construction projects from the States and Feds.....
