If you go back and look at Microns and Hyundai's announcement on their 200Mhz 1mx16 graphics part,(one of the only profitable parts right now, which is in extremely strong demand and selling for $3.00 plus), Micron got to the 200Mhz using .21um and Hyundai's is on a .28um process. Not that it matters, but it allows Hyundai to build on
older Fab utilizing a Fab that cannot be used for 64M anymore. The 16M-200Mhz can fetch a premium of $3.80, a good profit
even though .28. They are using the latest Fabs that are .22um-.18um for 64M and 128M and RDRAM. Its a minor part of the whole output but does allow Hyundai to be more efficient use of what they have and allows them to spend the money for new equipment in phases/
no question will have to spend a fortune, but already readying .18um
in several Fabs now. I would not underestimate how much money this company can come up with when they need it. Mu has investments in Micron Electronics which they should sell and invest somewhere more profitable, these guys are not going to make it over the long haul with Dell and Gateways growing as fast as they are.
Good trading.
