Biomerica Joins in Efforts to Increase Early Testing for
Colorectal Cancer

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., June 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Biomerica, Inc. (Nasdaq: BMRA - news)
today saluted the ABC News ''20/20'' program for its report this week on screening for colon
cancer and said it would intensify its own grass roots public relations campaign to increase
awareness for colorectal cancer and the importance of early screening, with articles in newspapers
and radio nationwide.

''I am delighted to report that Biomerica is also playing a role in the growing national awareness
about the need to catch this cancer early and the devastating results when this does not occur,'' said
Zack Irani, Biomerica CEO. Biomerica markets the simplest home test to detect the presence of
hidden blood in the stool, an early warning sign of colorectal disease.

This is a highly treatable and often curable cancer, but only when it is caught early,'' said Irani.
Biomerica's CEO stressed that television shows such as ''20/20'' are helping Americans to combat
what is the second most frequently diagnosed malignancy in the United States as well as the second
most common cause of cancer death. There are believed to be more that 130,000 cases of cancer
of the colon and rectum annually in the U.S. and more than 56,000 Americans will die of this disease
this year.

The ''20/20'' report emphasized that screening with a procedure known as colonoscopy, which is
done in the physician's office under sedation, should be part of routine care for all adults starting at
age 50. Last month, a Congressional report emphasized this is an ''equal opportunity cancer,'' since
it strikes both men and women equally. They said that numerous Americans are not tested because
they are embarrassed to discuss symptoms or doctors don't urge them to take the exam.

''We support this educational effort,'' Irani said. ''We are very proud of our U.S. FDA cleared
home test to detect hidden blood in the stool, which is a key early warning sign of colorectal cancer,''
Irani said.

Biomerica's product, EZ DETECT(TM), an easy $6 at-home test, can be purchased at most major
chain drug stores including Sav-On, OSCO, CVS and Walgreens and through AARP (American
Association of Retired Persons) Pharmacies.

Biomerica (Nasdaq: BMRA - news) is a global medical company devoted to developing,
manufacturing and marketing advanced medical diagnostic products for the early detection of
diseases. The products are used in hospitals, physician's offices and in the home for self-testing.
