You should be able to pick up a good SCSI drive for less than a grand.

Unless you need a huge amount of space, I would recommend 2 SCSI2 LVD 9.1Gb Seagate Cheetah's. Not sure how much they are in the US, but we pick them up for less than $500 Canadian here.

A good card will run you a couple of hundred as well.

The restore speed increase was the processor, no doubt about it. 256Mg plus in a Windows environment is a definite plus though. I would recommend that to anyone.

If you wanted a good system, I still say 2 good SCSI2's, 2 PIII-450's on a nice stable board (no overclocking)...I like the Asus dual for that one, and 2 pieces of 256Mg. Might seem like overkill, but I guarantee satisfaction.

Overclocking is over-rated IMO, and much more dangerous to components than people think. Spending an extra couple of hundred (if that) to get a stable, and relatively cool environment is highly recommended.

Cheers,

Rich
