Rich,
The AOL front end is what everyone who logs into AOL has to go through while in AOL, I did not know AOL subscribers could use the Internet without accessing AOL first, I think you should check that out, just because you use their Winsock does not mean you dont have to go through AOL's front end first. I used Netcom and and there Winsock but I still had to go through Netcom to use its Winsock and its the same with AOL. I am well aware that you can use 3rd party software with AOL , but when comparing the AOL software to 3rd party software I like the third party software better. If you use AOL then you access the Internet via AOL which means you go through their front end, prove me wrong and I will shut up on that topic. As for the disk space they give you , you better check that out also , I dont know of anyone who gets disk space for a web page without paying extra for it. If I am wrong please please prove me wrong by showing me someone who has an AOL e-mail address and a personal home page who does not pay extra for it. As for the FTP site , yes I have visited a few of the AOL sites but they are maintained via AOL not by the individuals. Uploading to an FTP site is different then having your own allocated disk space for you to totally control. As for you saying I have posted incorrect information please be more specific, I have witnessed AOL first hand , and all my posts reflect the experience I had. I think you are posting mis-information, but once again prove me wrong and I will shut up . Or possibly we are misinterpreting each others posts. I have been on the net for a long time so I am not a novice. I have no doubt that they can achieve a higher subscriber rate, but at what cost??? They are only going to get $ 19.95 per subscriber now , and I did not see anything in the news about them cutting back on marketing costs :-]
