Time to change most of your guesses of the K6-3 release date.

_____________________________________________________________________

AMD is now expected to introduce its SharpTooth K6-3D
processor earlier than the 24th February.

Although a representative refused to say exactly when the
processor will be introduced, he did say that the date had been
brought forward.

AMD is attempting to knock the wind out of Intel's sails when it
introduces its Pentium III (Katmai) part at the end of February.

Meanwhile, rumours are circulating in the industry that Gateway
2000 is likely to use the K6-3D processor in some of its machines.

Gateway has previously been a loyal Intel customer. No one from
the company was available for comment at press time.

Also, The Register told JC that the K6-3 won't come out on Feb. 14.

"Got a most splendid message via email this morning from the kind folks at the Register. They were very cool and nice and all to tell me that the February 14th date for Sharptooth is incorrect, but they recently learned that the date will indeed be before the 24th."

My estimates: K6-3 - Feb. 15 announcement, initially at 400 and 450
K7 - June 23 announcement, initially at 550 and 600MHz
