SEMI, SEMI
Japan and the Semiconductor Equipment Association of Japan
(SEAJ) have announced their statistics for worldwide
semiconductor product sales in November, 1997. The total was
US$2,452,940,000, or 55.6% higher than in November 1996.
This was the first time since June 1995 that monthly sales
showed continuous increases over the previous year for six
months in a row. The cumulative (April-November) sales were
also 22.1% higher than for the same period in 1996, at
$20,846,410,000. Although these are high figures, regional
figures show that most of the increase was in the American
and Taiwanese markets; Japanese results were flat and Korea
is bedeviled by a market contraction.
