I saw it as opportunity and bought more today.

Suppose the strength of DEC in the server area is being translated to a weakness in Sun?

Digital Alpha server sales rise-analysts

BOSTON, Oct 16 (Reuters) - Sales of Digital Equipment Corp servers based on the Alpha
microprocessor appeared to show strong growth in the first quarter, analysts said on Thursday.

John Jones, an analyst with Salomon Brothers, said he calculated that Alpha server sales rose about 28
percent year-over-year in the first quarter.

''Last quarter, Alpha servers were down one percent. The quarter before that they were down five
percent,'' Jones said. ''This is the highest growth in five quarters.''

However, Jay Stevens of Buckingham Research Group said sales of Alpha workstations may have
fallen in the quarter.

''Workstations have only been decent for one company. Sun Microsystems (Inc (SUNW)) has been
taking share from DEC...and all the other guys,'' Stevens said.

''We need the whole Alpha number for the whole product line,'' he added.

Digital is expected to release more information on its Alpha sales during its conference call with
analysts beginning at 0930 EST and its call with the media at 1100 EST.
