Michael -

In the LS-120, only the heads which read and write the 1.44MB media make contact with the media surface. I believe that Iomega did briefly market a 20MB floptical, but it only had one set of heads, which floated.

At the time when Iomega was involved with developing the drive which eventually became the LS-120, the drive used two sets of heads. The heads that read/write the 120MB media floated, and the ones used for standard floppies rode the surface. I believe that is still the case with LS-120 today.

I suppose I should have said Iomega has never SOLD a drive with heads that contacted the media. I could be wrong about that, but that's what I believe to be true. Nice try, Coley, but I don't think you got me on this one. ;-)

In any case, all current Iomega disk drives use heads which fly above the media surface.
