Carl, I think the question that most folks on
this thread want to address is the near term
(trader) and long term (investor) prospects for
Intel the company and INTC the stock. Many
folks do take a sports fan approach (Go Yankees!)
or (Go to hell, Yankees!) but for the most part
we're trying to predict the future path of the
equity known as INTC. On the plus side is

considerable manufacturing leadership
brand identity and good marketing
excellent management
good (maybe great) products in the pipeline
currently running at capacity

On the minus side

certainly not a secret or overlooked stock
credible (but not magnificent) competition
The NC question
What will christmas sales be like

I am personally not too worried about the
competition (AMD and Cyrix) at the moment,
though that could change. My own evaluation
is that the NC could fill a small niche role
but I will watch that like a hawk. Finally
what will christmas sales be like. I think
they will be quite good but you never know.

On balance, I have decided that I have an
excellent investment in Intel and that chances
are good that it will be an excellent investment
for the forseeable future. I believe that when
we look back on this period five years from now,
I will kick myself for not having bought more. I
thought that a year ago when INTC was in the low
50s and I think so today. You are always gambling
a little when you invest but for the time being I
regard INTEL as a one decision stock.

You provide a welcome and valuable service here by
providing your views and I am absolutely delighted
to see you back posting. It is a pleasure to read
your fact-filled and reasoned presentations.

Best regards,
Burt
