NHP, We are just seeing the tip of the iceberg for mp3. Diamond Multimedia (known for the Diamond Rio!) reported Q4 sales of only $126,838,000 with profits of only $5,100,000 for a net margin of 4%. There will be fierce price competition for those entering this market and the flash storage people will be the ones making the money. Saavy mp3 manufacturers will jump on the CompactFlash band wagon. The .mp3 market will be helped by higher speed internet connections such as offered by cable modems or DSL's. I would like to see CF, CF II and MMC become the common currencies for removable flash memory storage with the jingle of cash in SNDK's pocket with every sale, regardless of vendor.
