on 10/19 the Zack's rating changed from 4 to 3 (on a five scale). No reason was given. This is terribly weak as an explanation, but as good as I've found. I actually cracked a smile today..., briefly. To me, the move below 10-11 was irrational, so this move is just evidence of a bit of sanity returning. But the massive volume on 2 consecutive up days...? as I'm typing, the sox is down 1% and vlsi up 17%?? But then vlsi has been left behind with recent sox moves, so this could be funds trying to get a great little company for less than book value. If we don't get any news in the next day or so, this will be my take on it. In '96, this stock went from around 11 to 29 in just a few months, so the last couple days don't surprise me too much, but it really should have taken a couple weeks instead of a couple days, even with a bullish scenario. My most bullish argument for next q's earnings is the recent decline in the dollar/yen. I think it's quite likely that Asian orders for vlsi customers are picking up. VLSI is fully capable of surprising both up and down. cheers, -Kevin
