Just came in on this conversation. I am having an almost similar problem. When I leave my computer on overnight, which I usually do, the next morning my internet connection icon has an x thru it with a mouse over message that,"a cable is unplugged." I have to reboot and everything is well unless I leave the computer idle for a few hours. My research indicates that SP2 has a bug causing this. I installed the MS hot fix and it didn't seem to help. There is a fix going into the registry, but I haven't had the time or courage to try it yet, as I hate messing with the registry. Rap
