Harper's support for Bush's Iraq war is hardly a "military misadventure". Conservatives are what they are, and post 911 the rhetoric was fierce. The Iraq war is a Bush/Blair event, and Bush has won re-election in spite of it, and by all accounts, even the British socialist Blair is cruising to victory. If the Socialist Blair strongly supported the war, why would not a Canadian conservative be inclined in the same direction. In the Anglo world, (including Australia), Canada's stance was out of step, although correct in my opinion.

The war in Iraq was not at all just a Conservative proclivity.
