''This was a good quarter and we showed good growth in gross margins,'' said Woody Munroy, a Seagate spokesman. The company finished the quarter, which ended Oct. 2, with about $1.8 billion in cash, he said. Seagate's gross margin widened to 20.7 percent from 15.6 percent in the year-ago period.
