Matthews isn't a staunch liberal. Not by any stretch. Yes, he's turned to the left for ratings lately, but in general, he's not.

And yes, MSNBC has Olbermann and Maddow, but they also have three hours of Scarborough in the morning and Pat Buchanan is all over the network. Not to mention that NBC news also encompasses NBC proper as well as CNBC.
