Your characterisation is typically flawed but you know that is what we expect from you. This thread might actually be a challenge if you represented things honestly.

At the time, I was posting on SI. My opinion at the time was that the situation was much more complex than 'WMDs' or all about oil. I stated then that I didn't believe Saddam presented an immediate threat to the US but that the sanctions were deteriorating and his stated agenda would be likely to present a major threat in years to come.

I also had been protesting the sanctions since they had begun with Bush 1 and through the clinton years. They were directly targeted at innocent victims, as Albright confirmed by her famous comment. The original idea was that under pressure of the sanctions the people of Iraq would over throw the regime of Saddam. I didn't support that but it became clear over time that they would not be able to do that.

I don't remember your objections to Albright's comment that the death of 500k children was worth it ...
