I did. Not one of those links provided any evidence to suggest that any kind of universal or government run health care would be more cost effective (although, like on this board, the claim was made absent any evidence).

While there are some efficiency improvements to be had*, efficiency is one thing, cost effectiveness is quite another.

The bottom line is that we're going to have to cut health care quality to get major cost savings. Just as Great Britain and Canada have done in their socialized systems -- we will deny ready access to specialists, to expensive equipment, and to life-saving drugs. That's where the dollars are. Not in tinkering with efficiency.

This efficiency tale is a lie that has been perpetrated by the left wing nutjobs, beginning with Obama and all the way down.

*There is no evidence that more IT ("EMR") will materially reduce costs. It just isn't there. In fact, every clinic I know of that has implemented EMR now spends vastly more money on IT than ever before, and there is no tangible evidence of better health care or less expensive service to the patient. They love it, don't get me wrong. One clinic I know of spent a half million on EMR and billing systems plus thousands a month in support and additional personnel costs -- when I asked the manager what she saw as the major benefit, she said, "We don't lose charts anymore". That's big money for finding charts.
