Oracle and Compaq Align Partner Program Efforts 12:11 p.m. Feb 09, 1999 Eastern
ORLANDO, Fla., Feb. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Oracle Corp. (Nasdaq: ORCL) announced today at the Collaborative Enterprise Solutions Conference a strategic alignment of the Oracle(R) Partner Program (OPP) and Compaq Computer Corp.'s Enterprise Solution Provider (ESP) program, offering partners tremendous support in the areas of training, marketing and sales. The combination of the programs offers partners free dual certifications on Oracle and Compaq technologies and exclusive access to customer leads that result from Oracle-Compaq programs, in addition to the benefits of the OPP and ESP programs. This new joint curriculum will make it easier for IT professionals to obtain certifications on both companies' technologies, and add value to their companies' solution delivery.
"Through our joint ESP/OPP partner initiative with Compaq, we are building a broader market channel to reach more mid market customers for Oracle Internet computing solutions based on Oracle8i(TM)," said John Hall, senior vice president, Worldwide Alliances, Oracle. "Our partners' customers will reap the benefits of deploying easy to manage Internet computing solutions from certified business partners of Oracle and Compaq."
As part of a joint incentive package, Oracle and Compaq have created an education fund to cover the costs for qualified partners to enroll in a new, weeklong course offered by Compaq. The course combines the new Oracle Database Operator (DBO) on NT course with Compaq's Master Accredited Systems Engineer (ASE) course on Oracle8(TM). Compaq ASEs of ESP/OPP partners who attend this course will receive two certifications, Oracle DBO on NT, and Compaq Master ASE for Oracle, empowering partners with skills to implement, configure and manage Oracle on Compaq solutions for their customers. Representatives from five partners -- Forsythe Solutions, Inc., Hall-Mark Computer Products, Jade Systems, Inc., KeyLink Systems and UNICOM -- recently attended the pilot training, and lauded both the ESP/OPP program and the curriculum on the attached quote sheet.
The Oracle Partner Program, announced in September, is making an ongoing investment of more than $500 million in partner-related programs and resources. In addition to marketing funds and training, the OPP offers free bundled development licenses, online technical support, and extended brand identity through "On Oracle" and "Certified Solutions Partner" branding. Compaq has already joined the Oracle Partner Program, achieving the highest level of partnership as a global partner.
The Compaq Enterprise Solution Provider program, announced in October, likewise offers free technical and sales training classes, technical support, marketing funds and use of the Enterprise Solution Provider logo to promote its resellers' delivery proficiency of Oracle solutions. Comprised of an elite, highly skilled network of qualified Compaq solution providers, ESP is designed to provide enterprise customers with customized and superior technology consulting, deployment, service and support to better meet their enterprise-specific requirements.
"Compaq is extremely excited about this strategic partnering initiative with Oracle, giving our partners a tremendous opportunity to build new business based on Oracle's Internet computing solutions," says Mike Pocock, vice president, US Channels for Compaq. "And since Oracle supports every Compaq platform, all of Compaq's partners can reap benefits from this program, whether selling Windows NT, Tru64 UNIX, or OpenVMS solutions."
