"Why" My take of human nature is that the insecurity of having nothing as a foundation of ones belief system leads to visceral emotionalism that gets exposed when reasonable men challenge or expose the nothing upon which that religion is based. That faith based belief I am smarter and I know what best for everyone else and you donot. The democrat or liberal of today logically has many more faith based beliefs than any person truly believes in God. But there is no foundation for those beliefs.
