Well, just as long as we don't stretch that metaphor TOO far! Yeah, I got the Mary Ann joke.

What I've been wrestling with since I bought AAPL not too long ago is visualizing a world without them. No doubt this statement will raise the ire of many a wintel drone on this list, but I'm serious. Surely I'm not the only one around here who has trouble envisioning the ultimate end of Apple Computer.

Aside from starting Pixar, what do you think Jobs has been doing for the past couple years? He's been pining for his lost love, that's what. He acted like a spurned high school punk when he got thrown out of Apple, trashing all his shares in the company like they were so many collected loved letters. And of course in the interim he's watched his sweetheart be wooed by every Tom, Dick, and Harry around, only to finally meet up with her again after she'd been beaten and abandoned.

As has been noted repeatedly, Steve is older and wiser now, and his experience with Pixar, not to mention his alliances with Ellison and Gates, demonstrate that he's learned how to treat a lady.

Reunited and it feels so good. If one is not willing to adopt a wait-and-see posture toward this concern, why not get out now?

Unabashedly pro-Apple,

Mark
