<All religions are fakes and prophets were con artists.>

Half of humanity is actively involved in pursuit of religion, in my humble opinion pissing in the mosque creates worst of rioting, it is better to allow people their freedom of obtaining solace whatsoever way it may be!

Any religion that encourages beheadings and wanton aggression comes definitely under your broad definition, but religions and congregation that promote harmony and brethren ship between humanity are serving some good purpose.

In areas of extreme poverty, a lot of social balance is maintained by religion, it serves as a tranquiliser for poverty stricken people who tend to think that denial of worldly goods presently ensures great bounties after death, that contentment does help maintain some semblance of order in societies marked with extreme poverty.

For me it is separation of religion from state that is most important, praying for me is a sign of thankfulness to God and not expression of religious attitude.

However, religion has its own therapeutic side too, it was nice to see in today Senate lunch during prayers and benediction all great liberals’ heads like Clinton and Kennedy were bowed with same fervour as Bush.
