Interesting that you mentioned being 'hard wired'. When we built our home I had it wired for ethernet, but who would have thought older cable might end up being slower than current Wi-Fi! We get approx 230mbps via Wi-Fi, and I also get the same via ethernet, but we have Cat5e cable, which is right on the cusp of being able to handle gigabit speeds. I've read that older Cat5 cable in some cases will not.
