Dear Craig- you have said QV is not helpful at this time- I assume it is because of the slow scans in advanced GET-
Gary has explained why the scans are slow in Virtual- because the virtual files are pointers to real files and GET has to find each file on the way.
However I scan in GET on subsets- It is quite easy IMO.
For example I create a scan of stocks greater than 300 k in average volume and other criteria. I then output the scan to a virtual file.
I then go into GET and create a dath path which is that virtual file. I also have a datapath called ALLQP- which has 10,000 tickers in it. I use ALLQP for chart viewing in GET. However for GET's proprietary scans- I click off the ALLQP datapath and select a subset appropriate to scan- usually let that 1000 issues- I create a datapath for that scan only and click off all other datapaths.. It is still slow but I go and do something else during these scans.
Also you can create a preliminary scan in QP= such as MACD 13\34 greater than a signal line and then use that subset in Get by crreating a datapath for that virtual directory.
Craig- if you do not have problems with QPV- * note Norton 2.0 does not work with it for example at this beta point.- Then you will be missing out on the power of the virtual setup. If this is not clear you can email me privately and I can explain further.
