JC - WAY off base - see "Power to be Free: Compaq and Linux"
unix.digital.com
Linux supported systems include Alpha, ProLiant, DeskPro, Professional Workstations and even the iPaq handheld.

The only thing CPQ makes that is NOT supported with Linux is the Presario. Windows 2000 is also not supported on Presario - in fact nothing but Win98 SE is supported. Presario is a specialized consumer offering which includes an "all in one" bundle of software and hardware features which works great if that's what you want, but is not a "general purpose" machine - it is essentially a consumer appliance.

Anything else in the Compaq line has Linux support and with most you can get Linux pre-installed.

Now let me guess - Merry has a Presario?
