What about the energy, Tim? Maybe we have to get metaphysical here. If we have a soul, by definition non-matter, then is the soul a form of energy?

We can't answer this by virtue of physics. But if we observe a principle in our universe that (total) energy is a constant which can never be added to or taken away from, it allows for the symbolic interpretation that our life energy cannot be destroyed. I say symbolic, inasmuch as the nature of a supernatural existence lies outside of the laws which govern the universe we can see.
