Yes, the Jaz disk itself seals the drive opening very well.

What to do when the disk is removed?

Iomega has solved this problem neatly by putting in a hinged flap on both Zip and Jaz. The flap prevents contamination when there is no disk in the drive, and is designed in such a way that doesn't have to be touched by the user and doesn't break off.

Love that Iomega engineering.
