I agree with you about the uptick rule, that it is a red herring. It is amazing how many things the pundits throw out as reasons for things happening that have nothing to do with the problem, yet so many fall for it.
Look how well the suspension of the uptick rule did for the financial stocks. For some strange reason they continued to go down after the uptick rule was re-instituted for them. Imagine that! I couldn't have been that no one wanted to own them was it?????
Naked short selling is another matter completely. That is another example of the big boys having an unfair and illegal advantage in the markets and the regulators turn their heads the other way.
